Francis Cauchi

The Gharb Local Council would like to congratulate Mr. Francis Cauchi, an elderly person born and residing in our locality who celebrated his 102nd birthday.
Cikku Cauchi, as known by everyone, was born on the 10th January, 1909. He married Marija and together they had 11 children. Cikku was a very active person in the village and infact as from the age of 18 he was member in the first external feasts committee. He was also an active member of the Catholic Action. For a number of years he also served as a sexton at the Gharb Parish Church. After retiring from work, he took the duty of ringing the church bell every Friday at 3pm and continued doing this for 27 years. Every first Friday of the month he also took care in organising the adoration and ringing the bell every hour all day long. Mr. Cauchi loves reading and writing down past memories. |
