On Wednesday 29th August, the l-Gharb Local Council celebrated Gharb Day 2012. The soiree started with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Gharb Basilica and Parish Church followed with a variety of activities at Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna where wreaths were laid infront of Bishop M. Molina Monument by Council members and Local Committees.
The evening included a spectacle of local talents followed by the giving of certificates to students who attended courses organized by the Council and also to students graduating from the University of Malta. Awards which were given included:-
l-Gharb Award – Presented to Sr. Rachele Agius
Qlub Generuzi Award – Presented to Lorna Cassar
Volontarjat Lokali Award – Presented to Christan Attard, Mario Portelli, Joseph Cauchi Formosa and Joseph Cauchi Bajada
Literacy Award – Presented to Maria Mizzi and Christine Portelli
l-Gharb Gozitan Cultural Award – Presented to Church Museum Ecclesia Mater |
