Seħer il-Punent 2014
On the 5th, 6th, 7th December, for the 8th consecutive year the Council organized Seħer il-Punent. This year having Christmas as its main theme. This festival was organized with the collaboration of the Ministry for Gozo, Parliamentary Secretariat for Justice and Local Government and the Malta Tourism Authority. Our Mayor David Apap Agius along with the Mayor of Għajnsielem and Joe Mifsud Chairman of Christmas in Gozo opened this Festival. The program included of songs by Hebron choir, departure of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem in Għajsielem, songs by Amber, winner of the Malta Eurovision 2014, and a live band performance by ‘The New Victorians’. Another attraction was held by the Malta Records that was the biggest burger which weighted 98kg. On Saturday the evening started with local singers followed by the ‘Joy Gospel Singers’. Songs by Christabelle 2nd place winner of the Malta Eurovision song contest 2014 followed by a live band ‘De Bee’. Another two Malta records were held during this event that were the longest ciabatta that was 1.6 meters long and the 185 dominoes shot. On Sunday, the final day of the festival, marches by the Għaqda Mużikali Viżitazzjoni opened the event. These were followed by a marathon of songs by local singers and dance performances by different groups of dancers all with the Christmas theme. A Malta Record of the longest tower with 385 champagne glasses was also held in the presence of the Minister for Gozo Hon. Dr. Anton Refalo along with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councilors.
