Gharb Carnival

On Sunday 15th February, the Gharb Local Council organised the first Carnival Activity in Gozo which was held at 4pm in the afternoon at the Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna. The program started with a defilee from Church Street to Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna where the activity was held under the tent. The Carnival programme was compered by two popular personalities from the Maltese spectacle, Joe id-Dulli & Veronica who also animated the public who attended the show. Performances were given by various Gozitan companies including amongst others children, adults, hilarious, line dancers, ‘maskri grotteski’ and carnival floats. The Ghaqda Folkloristika tal-Qiegha gave its partecipation by playing folkloristic music. The Council also organised children’s costume competitions in two categories i.e. children from the locality and children from other localities The activity which was attended by a large number of people was closed off at around 8pm by the singing of the Carnival Anthem. |
