Scheme for Residents in alternative energy
|
|
|
The Council is preparing to offer its residents a scheme for alternative energy for both electricity and water. This will help residents in benefiting financially. More details regarding this scheme will be given in the coming days. |

Elderly Outing
|
|
|
On Sunday 21st February, the Council will be organising an outing for the Elderly. As in previous outings a Mass will be held followed by an outing and lunch. All those interested are kindly requested to call at the Council by not later than Monday 15th February. |

Carnival
|
|
|
The Gharb Local Council will be organising a Carnival soiree on Thursday 11th February. As in previous years the Council will be holding the Children’s costume competitions. Parents are therefore encouraged to call at the Council and apply for their children to participate to these competitions by not later than Friday 5th February. |

Annual Locality Meeting
|
|
|
In accordance with section 70 of the Local Councils Act (Act No XV of 1993), an annual locality meeting will be held on Friday 5th February, 2010 at the Local Council’s hall, Visitation Street, Gharb at 6.30pm.
All residents whose name appears on the Locality’s last Electoral Register are invited to attend. |

Works on Drainage Rising Main
|
|
|
Works on the drainage rising main are currently underway and the fourth phase of these works are nearly finished. This phase which includes Frenc ta’ l-Gharb Street is estimated to be completed by the end of November. We would like to bring your attention on the following issues:
It is very important that all the traffic signs which have been erected during these works in various streets are observed.
Attention is also being requested regarding Bishop M. Molina and Trux Streets which are currently two way. Parking is not allowed in the above mentioned streets for no reason whatsoever between 6.30am and 5pm. The Council is kindly requesting everyone’s co-operation in this regard in order to avoid problems and accidents.

Another Meeting for Tourist Operators
|
|
|
As a continuation with the meeting held on Wednesday 18th November, another meeting for tourist operators will be held at the Local Council next Sunday 22nd November at 10am. The second meeting will include more discussions about the proposals to meliorate and improve the facilities which are currently being offered. These proposals will be included in an application for EU Structural Funds. It is important that all those who did not attend the first meeting attend this second meeting so that together we can help to improve this sector which is of great importance to our country. |

Notice for Farmers

|
The Council is offering the service of collection of used dripping pipes or other plastic related to farming. All those wishing to dispose of these materials are kindly requested to inform the Gharb Local Council. |

Winter Courses
|
|
|
During the Winter season, the Council will organise various courses which are: Computer Courses, Language Courses, Maltese Course for Foreign Residents and Christmas Crib Courses.
The Council with the ETC’s collaboration, will also organise:
Literature Courses both in Maltese and English; and
Women For Employment Course. This course aims to provide trainees with training which would allow them to be employable. Amongst others the course includes how to apply for a job, writing the CV, how to prepare for an interview, Employment Laws, etc.
All those interested in applying for one of these course or need more information are kindly requested to call the Council by not later than Friday 9th October. |
